The Biggest Red Nose in the World?
The Lady of the North will be supporting Comic Relief by donning a Red Nose.
On the Monday 11th March, the week of Red Nose Day, The Lady of the North will be supporting Comic Relief by donning a Red Nose.
Although a lady would never tell, Northumberlandia’s nose is 9.7m wide (cheek to cheek), the width at the top of the nose is 3.2m and the height is 4.6m. We can’t think of a bigger nose. So we reckon this could be the World’s biggest red nose. We are going to talk to the people at the Guinness book of records to see if we can make it official.
We want this to be a collective effort so please get involved too, there are two ways which you can help:-
• Create a 1m square red collage – get your school, group, workplace or friends to create part of this historic nose. You can use anything you like as long as it’s red and will stand up to the elements for a few hours. However we suggest you use unwanted red clothes, which after the event can be ‘cashed in’ to support Comic Relief
• Or you can donate any old, unwanted red clothes which we can use to create the nose. Tou can Please drop these off at Northumberlandia before Monday 11th March (please only leave donations when the site is open and there is a warden on hand, thank you), at the Concordia Leisure Centre in Cramlington or at any of the following Tourist Information centres in Northumberland: Hexham, Corbridge, Seahouses, Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Alnwick, Craster, Morpeth, Wooler and Haltwhistle, before Monday 11th March.
To get involved and for more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are being supported by the wonderful DUCK - Durham University Charities Kommittee, who will be assembling the nose and putting it in place on the day. We are also thankful to UK Tarps Ltd who have given us a massive red tarpaulin that will form the base of the nose.
And if you want to join Northumberlandia and support Comic Relief by donning a Red Nose, they cost
£1 with at least 60p going to Comic Relief (available from Sainsbury’s, Oxfam and rednoseday.com).
This year they’re ‘Dinosesaurs’ – three prehysteric creatures designed to have the nation roaring with laughter.
